The necessity of pre-Columbian art; U.S. museums and the role of foreign policy in the appropriation and transformation of Mexican heritage, 1933-1944 : Holly Barnet-Sanchez dissertation in Art History from University of California, Los Angeles, 1993.

The results of Barnet-Sanchez's research indicate that the U.S. desire to improve inter-American relations and insure hemispheric security had substantial effects on the manner in which pre-Columbian art was introduced to the nation, often in exhibitions sponsored by the federal Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs directed by Nelson A. Rockefeller.
